CJI gets clean chit in sexual harassment case

A three-judge Supreme Court panel investigating the allegations of sexual harassment against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has given CJI Gogoi a clean chit in the matter.

The Secretary General of the Supreme Court has stated that the committee headed by Justice SA Bobde, also comprising of Justices Indira Banerjee and Indu Malhotra found no substance in the allegations contained in the complaint of the former employee of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court Monday said a plea seeking a direction to the CBI to lodge an FIR into alleged conspiracy to fix Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi in a “concocted, false sexual harassment” case will be heard in due course.

Earlier, the Supreme Court on Sunday denied a media report that said justices R.F. Nariman and D.Y. Chandrachud met Justice S.A. Bobde who is heading an in-house committee inquiring into the sexual harassment allegations against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.
