Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth and hassle-free counting. As a part of elaborate arrangements for counting day The forces have been deployed for protection and security at counting centers.
The counting of votes will begin for Lok Sabha and four state assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh tomorrow at 8 AM and trends are likely to start coming in by afternoon, while results are expected by the evening.
As per the Election Commission’s directions, VVPATs of five booths in each Assembly segment would be selected through randomisation and the votes polled would be counted. The results in the VVPAT chits would be compared to the EVM count.
Postal votes would be counted at the Returning Officers’ table and counting of votes in the EVMs would begin immediately after that. The counting of voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) would be taken up after the counting of postal ballots and votes in the EVMs.
According to Director General of Police (DGP) Mahender Reddy, the Elections to 17 Parliamentary Constituencies in Telangana State were conducted in 34,603 Polling stations and 18526 polling locations in a peaceful manner on 11.04.2019 in first phase of elections. After peaceful conduct of elections, the EVMs and VVPATs were stored in 123 Strong Rooms at37locations falling in (16) Police Units.
The forces have been deployed for protection of strong rooms, along with Law and Order Police, will take care of the security on counting day in all districts and commissionerates.
