Big shock to Chandra Babu Naidu as four TDP lawmakers split from the party and join BJP. The MPs handed their resignation to the vice president Venkaiah Naidu. Four of the lawmakers, all members of the upper house of the parliament, met Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu, who is also the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, and submitted their resignations.
This shock to Chandra Babu Naidu who is the TDP chief who is not in India and is on a vacation when the TDP leaders took the plunge. The defection of the leaders is a set back to the TDP as there are only six leaders in the upper party representing the party. There seems to be a call for the merger of the TDP into the BJP.
The anti defection law clicks in when a leader elected from a party leaves the party and joins other without resigning. But here in this case according to sources the TDP leaders are passing a resolution to merge legislature party into BJP. With this BJP strength goes up to 106. With this the BJP gains strength in the upper house where it is facing a little difficulty in passing few bills especially the triple talaq bill.
With this the BJP takes the seat of the opposition in the Andhra Pradesh with today’s developments. Definitely this is really very hard setback to Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu with his own leaders leaving him after being elected on the face of his party.
C M Ramesh, Srujana Chowdary, Garikapati Ram Mohan Rao, T.G. Venkatesh are the names. These were the leaders who as seniors in the party had played a major role in the party during the elections and even before that. These leaders were the one who in the past had criticized the BJP for its coldness towards Andhra Pradesh and the demand for special category status for the state.
Speaking on the occasion BJP woking president JP Nadda confirmed the defection of the four MPs. And said that on the BJP party believes in the positivism and inclusiveness welcomes the leaders into the party. Also these leaders were in past criticized by the BJP for their industrialists cum politician status and pulling out their personal interest behind the political scenario. And now this merger.
Reacting to the development in the party in his absence CHandra Babu Naidu condemned the BJP attempts to weaken TDP and said that crisis is not new to the party. With more than 2/3 TDP no more a part of the party in Rajya Sabha.
